Fashion at IIFA

Deepika Padukone

WLCI Feedback

Well, her competitor Deepika Padukone wasn't far behind. She looked stunning in Naeem Khan separates, featuring a heavily beaded steel grey cropped top with hints of shimmer and sequin. She paired it with cape jacket attached to the straight black pants. We absolutely love how she didn't play safe (unlike others) and explored the dark side with that oxblood lip colour.

We have seen footballer Victor Cruz's girlfriend Elaina Watley in the same creation... but trust us, DP scores much more!

WLC Feedback

As a matter of fact, we can't think of even one instance when DP went wrong with her red (or green) carpet appearances, especially when wearing a Naeem Khan creation.

This Moroccan-inspired soft peach gown, from Khan's Spring 2013 collection, blends Deepika's sensuality and sophistication so well that it becomes almost difficult to take our eyes off her. Still we tried and zoomed into the intricacies of the gorgeous gown - we see some incredible work on the embroidery front.

Fashion at IIFA 2013

Anushka Sharma

WLCI Feedback

'Rosy lips, dimple chin, sleek straight hair, very fair... our personal favourite - Is that you?'  Yes, yes and yes!

Well, this is exactly what comes to our mind when we see Anushka in this frilled floor-length Roberto Cavalli gown, featuring an embellished back and bodice. While the plunging neckline brings out the sexiness of the bubbly actress, the soothing white introduces us to her inner grace and elegance.

We love how the just-right matte makeup and hair does wonders to her simple look. Anushka Sharma was undoubtedly one of the best dressed divas of this year's IIFA.

It was her favorite Dior that Kangana select for a Uk travel promotion. She looked super cool in the dress that showed off her back. The Union Jack clutch and red pumps were a smart touch, we thought.

Priyanka select a blue McQ outfit for a TV channel release. She joined it with a wide buckle and color blocked pumps. She seemed nice, but the outfit does not quite get us.

Soha Ali Khan in separates

Soha goes for a conservative look in this pencil skirt with full-sleeve top with an embellished neckline.

Malaika Arora Khan in printed dress

Malaika showed off her long legs during an appearance on ‘Captain Tiao’ on TV. The blue printed dress wasn’t one of her usual sexy silhouettes though.

Bipasha Basu in polka dots

Bips looked just right for a casual dinner with friends. The polka-dotted skirt, which she wore with black shirt and pumps, looked good on her.

5 Rules to Flaunt a Short Dress

WLCI Feedbacke

Summers are finally knocking on our doors, and so is the time to flaunt the pretty dresses. All the one piece dresses that were wrapped and kept away in the closet will soon be out, and we are sure you cannot wait to wear them after being all covered-up in the chilly winters. But do you know that dresses can look pretty only when worn right? Yes, like all other styles of outfits, short dresses too come with the instructions list, and one ignored point can ruin the whole look. So to avoid making any fashion blunders, we have for you a simple list of things to keep in mind before you wear your favourite one piece dress.

Grooming- an absolute must!

WLC Feedback

If you are a fan of short dresses, then the most important thing is to groom your legs regularly. Legs are the focal point when it comes to short dresses. Apart from exercising regularly to get that amazing toned look, do make sure that you keep your legs clean. Regular waxing, pedicure and foot massages give a smooth look. Remember to moisturise your legs well before stepping out; it gives a healthy sheen to the skin.

Comfort and confidence

WLC Review

Pulling the dress or adjusting it every now and then shows that you are very uncomfortable with what you are wearing. So, wear something in which you feel relaxed. After all, fashion is all about being comfortable in what you wear. If you are worried about the exposed leg, then you can wear stockings or tights. You can also opt for shapewear to hide your belly fat. If you feel comfortable, you will be able to walk confidently and this will make you look even better.

Your body type

Do not get too excited at a glance of a pretty dress and buy it just because it looks nice. Always try it on before you buy it. There are varieties of cuts and patterns, like strapless, halter-neck, A-line, bodycon, empire line, etc., many of which do not suit all body types. Or you might not be too comfortable in a particular pattern. Just make sure you pick a pattern that flatters your body type.

The right footwear

WLC Review

Pairing your outfit with right footwear is as important as choosing the outfit! High heels are usually the preferred choice of most girls when it comes to short dresses, as they give a leaner look. You can choose stilettos, pumps or wedges, depending on what you are most comfortable wearing. But don’t rule out flats! Flat slip-ons and pumps also look great with dresses, especially the floral and more casual ones.

The right length

The meaning of “short” can differ from person to person. If you are confused about the correct length, just follow a simple rule to be on the safer side. Pick the length that is below your fingertips when you place your arm on the sides. Anything shorter than that might get a little uncomfortable. But again, it depends on how well you can pull-off dresses and how comfortable you are in them.

Top Indian Fashion Designers

Hello frnds,

WLCI Review

When most people in North American think of top fashion labels, the first names that probably come to mind are something along the lines of Valentino, Chanel and Prada.

But millions of people on the other side of the Atlantic think of Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi and Masaba. These are just some of the top Indian designers whose extravagant, fabulous outfits are sought after by South Asians around the world.

These fashion mavens dress some of the top Bollywood celebrities such as Aishwariya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor, in everything from traditional sarees to eccentrically patterned dresses.

Bollywood’s rich and famous always look beautiful, and these designers are a big reason why.

Check out some of India’s favourite fashion designers and their jaw-dropping, gorgeous designs.

Not only does he make costumes for Bollywood’s leading ladies and men but he also designs for Hollywood stars such as Reese Witherspoon and supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Sabyasachi Mukerjee:

Another beloved Indian designer, Sabyasachi is known for his dramatic outfits, which are largely inspired by his hometown, Kolkata, India. His creations generally use dark, earthy colours, but he doesn’t shy away from adding a pop of colour or modern twists to his gorgeous creations once in a while.

Masaba Gupta:

Qureshi’s own line is largely western clothing with some modern Indian outfits.

Nikhil Thampi:

Tarun Tahiliani:

Known for his work in the Indian fashion industry since 1987, Tahiliani is another Bollywood favourite. Actresses such as Shilpa Shetty often walk the runway at his shows and wear his quintessential Indian outfits at award ceremonies and in movies.

Hot Looks of Your Favourite Stars in Sarees

Hi frnds,

Jumpsuits, maxis, minis, LBDs – they all have their seasons. The saree, however, never goes out of style. Our filmi fashionistas turn to the grace and elegance of a saree ever so often.

Some, like Vidya Balan, prefer it over most other attire, while the dusky Bipasha Basu looks her best in a saree, no doubt about that. The fashion-forward set, which includes the likes of Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, may be seen more often in Western designs, but grab attention when they choose to step out in a saree. Down South, too, whether it’s on-screen, or off, a traditional saree look is de rigueur for every actress.

Keeping the saree picks of the stars updated are Indian designers like Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra, known for their exquisite takes on the traditional drape. Of late, designers have begun also to play around with the concept of the saree, creating saree-inspired dresses and focusing on one element like pleats or pallu.
